Daniel Wong (BA(UrbanStud)) graduated with First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from the Faculty of Architecture. With the world rapidly urbanising, he developed a strong interest in understanding how cities are designed, planned, and shaped. Throughout his university journey, he gained valuable experience in both the private and public sectors, allowing him to develop a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the built environment.
One of his most memorable experiences was his time at Airport Authority Hong Kong, where he worked on the planning and development of SKYTOPIA. He also had the opportunity to go on exchange to the University of Leeds in the UK, where he made lifelong memories and friendships. Following his graduation, Daniel has chosen to pursue a Master’s degree in Town Planning at the University of Cambridge, where he will continue to deepen his expertise in urban planning and design.
Who is one person you couldn't have graduated without?
I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Dr. Kenneth Tang from the Department of Urban Planning and Design for his unwavering support and invaluable mentorship, which have continually encouraged me to aim higher and achieve more academically.
Since our very first studio class together in Year 1, Dr. Tang’s dedication to his lectures and students has been abundantly clear. He consistently ensures that every student feels seen, supported, and able to follow along. Beyond the classroom, Dr. Tang has also provided me with invaluable opportunities to learn, grow, and shine.
Your most memorable moment from HKU?
Without a doubt, the most memorable experience I've had during my HKU journey was my semester exchange at The University of Leeds, UK, where I met some of the most extraordinary people and made lifelong friends from all across the globe!
