Personal Information Collection Statement

This is a personal data collection statement made under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (“the Ordinance”).
The University of Hong Kong (“the University”) would like to keep you informed of the University’s news and activities. Personal data of you held by the University are collected directly from you; the student record system of the University; during your contacts with the University through various channels of communications with you; or in some cases from a third party or source, that may include overseas charitable organisations set up by HKU.
Please let us know if there are any changes in your contact details. The data provided by you will be treated as strictly confidential and the data will be used for maintaining contact, updating you with the latest developments of the University, provision of information, e.g. University news, activities, giving initiatives, courses and programmes, training and continuing professional development, and provision of services associated with the University’s engagement activities. We will not disclose any personal information to external bodies unless you have been informed or we are required to do so by law. If you do not wish to receive communications from us in future, please send the request together with your full name in English, year of graduation and programme of study to alumni@hku.hk .
Under the Ordinance, individuals have the right to request access to and correction of their personal data held by DAAO. Should you wish to access or correct your personal information held by us, please submit your enquiry or request to alumni@hku.hk. A reasonable fee may be charged for the processing of any data access request.
