Kimmy Chan (BBiomedSc) graduated with First-Class Honours in Biomedical Sciences. Originally from Macau, she moved to Hong Kong for her studies, driven by a deep conviction that research holds the power to unravel the mechanisms of complex diseases and engineer better treatments.
Kimmy credits her time at Lap-Chee College (LCC) as one of the defining chapters of her university life. It was within the LCC community that she met most of her lifelong friends and honed her essential soft skills. An adventurous spirit at heart, Kimmy thrives on learning new skills and has never been afraid to venture off the beaten path.
Following graduation, Kimmy is set to further her journey in academics and research, eager to deepen her impact and knowledge in the field.
Most valuable lesson from your time at HKU?
To seize every opportunity. University isn’t just about sticking to studies, but having the courage to wander off the path to discover new routes and what truly drives you. Juggling various part-time jobs, college life, and other activities during the semester did take up some time, but I would say it really paid off. It gave me the clarity I needed to figure out exactly what I want to pursue in the future.
Who is one person you couldn't have graduated without?
I truly cannot imagine my university life without my best friend, Annie, whom I've been lucky to have met in a Year 1 CC course.
